A study on matrices with hybrid number entries
(Tbilisi Centre Math Sci, 2022) Erkan, Esra; Kuruz, Ferhat; Dagdeviren, Ali
Y In this paper, we firstly introduce the matrices with hybrid numbers entries. For the sake of compatibility with the literature, we will call this set of matrices as hybrid matrices. These matrices can be regarded as a generalization of complex matrices, dual matrices, and hyperbolic matrices. We then give basic properties of hybrid matrices by writing these matrices as a combination of real matrices. Finally, we examine the real matrix representation of hybrid matrices using the base elements.

(IEEE, 2017) al Kafee, Abdullah; Eryigit, Sevim; Akan, Aydin
Electrogastrography (EGG) is an experimental non-invasive method that reflects the myoelectrical activity of the diabetic gastroparesis (D-GP) and healthy subjects gastric system. In clinical world, endoscopy and delayed gastric emptying diagnosis test are using for understand the D-GP patient's condition which are invasive, quite expensive and uncomfortable. Therefore our aim is to evaluate the Electrogastrography (EGG) features to discriminate the healthy subjects from patients with D-GP in real clinic. Total 25 patients D-GP and twenty 25 healthy subjects (HS) were included in this study. The recordings EGG parameters dominant frequency (DF) were analyzed and compared. The results we obtained from analysis of EGG signals proved that pre-fed (p= 0.048) and post-fed (p= 0.003) DF values were statistically significant between the D GP and HS groups. This study proved that it is possible to distinguish D-GP patients from healthy subject's with a high accuracy and a great success from the EGG signals recording correctly in real clinic.

Analysis of EMG Signals in the Quadratus Lumborum Muscle of Healthy Subject with Functional Leg Length Discrepancy
(IEEE, 2017) Eryigit, Sevim; al Kafee, Abdullah; Yildirim, Mustafa Selman; Akan, Aydin
The purpose of this study was to analyze the electromyography (EMG) signals of the Quadratus Lumborum (QL) muscle activity on leg length discrepancy (LLD) and pelvic asymmetry. So we investigated whether pelvic asymmetry might cause injuries in lumbar spine and lower extremity. This was a randomized control experiment, total 50 (25 males and 25 females) datas were analyzed. All participants were right handed. Iliac crest levels were assessed by manually and LLD measurement was used with tape. EMG signals of the QL muscle were taken in the resting position without any activity intentionally in the prone position. Analysis of the data revealed that the QL muscles activity were higher at the pelvic elevation on the right side than on the left side. While there was a shortness in the lower extremity 27% of the cases on the right condition but it was statistically determined that 23% of the left side was short. At the same time, 100% of the cases in the lower extremity on the right side were found to be in the right iliac crest elevation position. Unilateral hyperactivity of the QL muscle leads to instability of the spine and pelvic muscles and causing pelvis asymmetry and functional LLD As a result, unbalanced loading on the spine and lower extremities may result in injury.

Effects of Ground Strain and Pipeline Orientation on Pipeline Damage during Earthquakes
(Amer Soc Civil Engineers, 2022) Toprak, Selcuk; Nacaroglu, Engin; Ceylan, Muhammet; O'Rourke, T. D.
Pipeline damage correlations are used for risk studies of water distribution systems. One of the parameters correlated with pipeline damage in permanent ground deformation zones is horizontal (lateral) ground strain. Some damage correlations use the maximum absolute value of the two principal strains around the pipelines as the lateral ground strain parameter. However, strains caused by lateral ground movements can be resolved into components such as axial strains in the direction of the pipelines. Performing such a process for a large urban water distribution system is a relatively complicated task and development of damage relationships requires comprehensive ground deformation and pipeline data. The unprecedented database following the Canterbury Earthquake Sequence in New Zealand (NZ) provides an opportunity to explore the effects of ground strain and pipeline orientation on pipeline damage during earthquakes. This study presents the GIS methodology for using pipeline orientation to evaluate pipeline network damage caused by ground deformation during earthquakes. The geospatial analyses results indicate differences in the responses of asbestos cement (AC) and cast iron (CI) segmental pipelines under compressive and tensile axial strains.

ELECTROMYOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS OF UPPER EXTREMITY MUSCLES DURING OVERHEAD WORK
(IEEE, 2015) Kinali, Gulsah; Kara, Sadik; Yildirim, Mustafa Selman
It is known that repeated movements of upper extremities result in over use injuries however, it is really challenging to distinguish which of them do so. Primary aim of the project is to determine the effect of different shoulder positions on gripping capability of hand and electro physiologic activityof upper extremity muscles. 23 case report data which have ages ranging between 18 and 30 are analysed. Depending on the shoulder flexion, hand gripping capability decreased explicitly. Suggested to analyse together with the fact that at levels higher than shoulders, despite maximum muscular activitythe hand gripping capability decreased explicitly is interpreted so that when the arm is raised the extremity exerts higher efforts for stabilizing the arm rather than ripping function. According to our results, as the shoulder flexion increases, muscular activity and depending on this the muscular exhaustion also increases where as the functional quality of hand decreases. The case is both a risk factor for an occupational disease and a situation that decreases skillful functioning of hands. For the next researches, advantages of exhaustion reducing apparatus and ergonomic systems, which can be used during works requiring over shoulder movements, are EMG results.

    Introduction to Smart Grid
    (IEEE, 2016) Colak, Ilhami
Smart grid can be defined as self-sufficient systems, which allows integration of any type and any scale generation sources to the grid that reduces the workforce targeting sustainable, reliable, safe and quality electricity to all consumers. Associations of initial studies for the next step in smart grid applications will provide an economical benefit for the authorities in the long term, and will help to establish standards to be compatible with every application. So that all smart grid applications can be coordinated under the control of same authorities. Even though these technological application studies constitute an initial step for the structure of the smart grid, they have not been fully accomplished in many countries. In this study, the introduction to smart grids is given as an overview.

Relation of Sustainable Energy and Certification Systems In High-Rise
(IEEE, 2018) Uruk, Zerrin Funda; Islamoglu, Asiye Kubra Kulunkoglu
Energy efficiency is the system of being able to supply the required energy amount without decreasing the quality of comfort. In this system, in which first our lives and then the whole environment is being affected, there is a wide range from mechanical equipment inside a place to construct of high-rise residential buildings. As the result of apparent increase of population along with progress of technological developments, observing the energy efficiency - by using new construction techniques in the design and construction phases of high-rise residential buildings-has gained importance. The change of construction technique at high-rise residential buildings is also affecting the performance efficiency in the same direction. The factors that affect the performance efficiency of a building may be listed in a wide scope such as air-conditioning (heating - ventilation) systems within the space, lightening management, acoustic quality and noise control techniques, security, use of ecological (sustainable) materials, building fitting (sanitary system) systems, use of central management unit in the building, and intending to make saving in operating costs and to have increase in the building's value. Building's energy efficiency value, that arise as the result of effective design and implementation of performance efficiency at high-rise buildings, is being assessed and certified through green building certification systems such as BREEAM, LEED, GREENSTAR, CASBEE, SBTool, DGNB and BEP-BUY which are valid in the whole world. In this research, the heading of use and conservation of efficient energy - which is one of the main assessment criteria of certification systems having international validity level-has been examined, and the systems' equivalence and differences have been assessed within this frame. As calculation criteria of certification systems - which are loadstar as from the phase of design of and technical decisions regarding high-rise residential buildings-have different percentages, it is being observed that the arising results are also different. As the result of this study, the energy usage percentages of certification systems in different countries regarding green building performance values have been compared. In the assessment made over this comparison, it has been intended to examine the building - being the candidate of obtaining certificate-in respect of energy performance at its project design phase.

Reliability Evaluation Using a Clustering Technique Based on Tie-set Method
(IEEE, 2020) Mahmood, Musaria K.; Myderrizi, Indrit
In this paper, an efficient technique to be used for reliability evaluation of complex networks with a large number of links and/or nodes is presented. By mapping network topology into many partitions through a hierarchical clustering process, the network's nodes are distributed in distinct groups at the top level. Then each group where the tie-set algorithm is independently applicable is represented only by contact nodes. The reliability evaluation is performed for the network simplified in this way. The proposed method is validated in terms of calculation speed and computational complexity through simulation of a randomly selected network.

COASTAL PLANNING AND THE EVALUATION OF COASTAL STRUCTURES IN TERMS OF SUSTAINABILITY
(Isec Press, 2016) Gulbahar, Necati; Kanli, Imam Bakir; Odabasi, Didem
Coasts are cross-sections of the water and land environments, for thousands of years they formed under the factors of climate, geological, geomorphological, topographic and hydraulic and it has reached a natural balance. But increasingly this natural balance is disrupted due to human impact. Coasts, with their strategic position, are a wealth of resources for people with endless possibilities and mild climate. Therefore, coasts continuously have remained under great pressure just because of residential, transportation, energy, economy and tourism. These pressures can be minimized by applying the principles of science and engineering with a rational urban planning. It will be held after an urban planning at the macro level, as a part of that plan, it should be considered in the design of optimal engineering structures. Therefore, the structure of the planning and design engineering for optimal site selection should be done and compatible structures integrated with topography and bathymetry such as coastal hydrodynamics should be designed. In this paper, after briefly the occurrence and type of coasts, the strategic importance of coastal will be highlighted and coastal planning and engineering structures in Turkey will be examined in terms of sustainability by demonstrating some examples and solutions will be proposed for encountered problems.

EXAMINATION OF USE OF WATER AND SOIL RESOURCES IN TERMS OF URBAN SUSTAINABILITY
(Isec Press, 2016) Gulbahar, Necati; Kanli, Imam Bakir; Odabasi, Didem
Cities are the organization of collective consumption and of welfare delivery and are the major consumers of renewable and non-renewable resources. The rapid urbanization process and its chaotic problems such as drastic urbanization and ecological challenges have been phenomenal. As the population rapidly rises in the world, the requirements for water resources also increase for various reasons at the same time. On the other hand, global warming, greenhouse effect and degradation of forests make worse the situation. However, these negative consequences show how we are going to face the tragic problems for the next two or three decades. While the term of sustainability is defined and connected only with the environment now it is explained with a comprehensive term undertaking not only the environment but also the social, economic, cultural and governance aspects of cities. Sustainability has been discussed at various meetings for years such as the UN meeting the Earth Summit which took place in Rio in 1992 and emphasized that cities should be liveable in terms of costs, social equity and the ecology, which are the three major principles of sustainable development, but concrete and applicable results have not been achieved yet. In this study use of basic resources in particular water and soil will be analysed and examined based on sustainability and its major components such as economic, sociologic, ecologic within the limits of the paper. The study will also be evaluated through the balance of protection and use of resources considering certain samples in the context of Marmara Watershed in Turkey and Istanbul in particular. Literature reviews, quantitative and qualitative information, reports prepared by the institutions, statistics, and observations have been chosen and used as the method. Solutions and proposals will also be suggested based on the findings.

PV Module Parameters Extraction with Maximum Power Point Estimation Based on Flower Pollination Algorithm
(IEEE, 2016) Benkercha, Rabah; Moulahoum, Samir; Colak, Ilhami; Taghezouit, Bilal
Modeling of photovoltaic (PV) module remains as an important issue for many applications like monitoring or fault detection. Hence, many models have been proposed in literature, the most popular ones are the single and double diode models. Each model have unknown parameters to be identified. In this paper, a parameters extraction for both single and double diode models by using flower pollination algorithm is proposed. This algorithm is based on flower pollination for optimal reproduction of the plants species and can be considered as an optimization technique. Experimental validation was carried out by comparing the obtained results with real measurements data. In order to give usefulness, the extracted PV module parameters values are incorporated to estimate the maximum power point (MPP) and compared it with the MPP obtained from real data of grid connected photovoltaic system (GCPVS).
