Hasta ve Hasta Yakınlarının Görüşlerinin Gazete Haberlerine Yansımasının Sağlıkta Şiddet Algısına Etkisi

Abstract

Sağlık kuruluşlarında meydana gelen şiddet vakaları bir habere konu edilirken genel itibariyle şiddete maruz kalana ve şiddeti gösterene odaklanılmaktadır. Sözkonusu taraflar olayın özneleri oldukları için bu yaklaşım doğru görülebilir. Fakat şiddet eyleminin nedenine dair tek taraflı bilginin verilmesi hem haberin tarafsızlığına hem de toplumsal algının doğru oluşmasına aykırı düşmektedir. Öyleyse bu tür vakalara karşı geliştirilecek çözümlere olumlu katkı sunmak için söz konusu nedenlerin haberlere, tüm tarafları kapsayacak bir biçimde yansıtılması önemlidir. Dolayısıyla sağlık kuruluşlarında meydana gelen şiddet vakalarının gazete haberlerine yansıtılma biçimi bu araştırmanın asıl konusu olarak seçilmiştir. Böylece hastanelerdeki şiddet eylemlerinin haberlerdeki işleniş biçimi ile sağlıkta şiddete dair oluşan toplumsal algı arasındaki ilişimin ortaya çıkarılması amaçlanmaktadır. Bu araştırma nitel araştırma tekniklerinden alan araştırması ve içerik analizi yöntemleriyle gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu kapsamda 2019 yılı Ocak ayının başından 2024 yılı Ocak ayının başına kadar Türkiye’de yüksek tirajlı iki gazetede çıkan sağlık haberleri mercek altına alınmıştır. Ulaşılan sonuca göre sağlıkta şiddet haberlerinin şiddete maruz kalanların görüşleri odağında hazırlanması, şiddetin gerçek nedeninin ortaya çıkmasını engellediği ve fail tarafın görüşlerinin haberlere yansımamasından dolayı şiddet algısı yanıltıcı olabildiği anlaşılmaktadır. Veriler, meydana gelen şiddet olaylarının temelinde yatan, hasta ve hasta yakınlarının büyük oranda psikolojik şiddet altında kalmasına dair nedenlerin göz ardı edildiğini göstermektedir.When violence cases occurring in healthcare institutions are covered in a news story, the focus is generally on the victim and the perpetrator of violence. Since the parties in question are the subjects of the incident, this approach may seem correct. However, providing one-sided information about the cause of the act of violence is contrary to both the impartiality of the news and the formation of correct social perception. Therefore, in order to make a positive contribution to the solutions to be developed against such cases, it is important to reflect the reasons in question in the news in a way that covers all parties. Therefore, the way in which violence cases occurring in healthcare institutions are reflected in newspaper news was chosen as the main subject of this research. Thus, it is aimed to reveal the relationship between the way violence acts in hospitals are covered in the news and the social perception formed about violence in healthcare. This research was conducted using field research and content analysis methods, which are qualitative research techniques. In this context, health news published in two high-circulation newspapers in Turkey from the beginning of January 2019 to the beginning of January 2024 were examined. According to the results, it is understood that the preparation of news about violence in healthcare focusing on the views of those exposed to violence prevents the real cause of violence from being revealed and the perception of violence can be misleading because the views of the perpetrator are not reflected in the news. The data show that the underlying reasons for the violent incidents, which are the psychological violence that patients and their relatives are subjected to, are largely ignored.
