On-load tap-changers are indispensable in regulating power transformers used in electrical energy networks and industrial applications. General switching principles and application for the On-load tap-changers are discussed and presented. A single phase Tap-Changer using a GTO with antiparallel thyristor to perform switching of one upward or downward transition is described. in this paper.
